Call for Submissions

Quarantine Qapsule (QQ) is a digital archive of the Asian Canadian experience during the COVID-19 pandemic brought to you by Tea Base in partnership with Myseum of Toronto. As a “time capsule” of the quarantine period, we are looking for creative contributions from all members of our community.

What will we remember during this time?

Quarantine Qapsule (QQ) is a digital archive of the Asian Canadian experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a “time capsule” of the quarantine period, we are looking for creative contributions from all members of our community. We want to hear your stories of resilience, hope, and self-discovery!

Persons self-identifying as Asian Canadian (and living in Ontario) are invited to submit video, musical or visual art to the QQ. No fancy equipment required, art can be created anywhere in any style, creativity cannot be stifled!

DEADLINE: Oct 23, 2020

Selected pieces will be featured on the Myseum website and artists will receive a honorarium.

Artists retain all rights to submitted pieces, but grant Myseum permission to present them in the QQ.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

General

  • You do not have to be a professional artist to take part!
  • There is no fee for submissions.
  • All pieces must be created in the quarantine period.
  • NO prejudice against previous online showing/previous winnings.
  • Artist must be a resident of Ontario and self-identify as Asian.
  • All films and art pieces will be screened or exhibited online through Myseum.
  • Entrants grant permission to use excerpts for promotional purposes.
  • Must be 18 years and over to submit.
  • Artists and/or groups that are accepted will receive a honorarium.

Film

  • Maximum length for films is 3 minutes.
  • Foreign language pieces must be accompanied by an English translation or have English subtitles.
  • All pieces must be created in the quarantine period.
  • NO prejudice against previous online showing/previous winnings.
  • Artist must be a resident of Ontario and self-identify as Asian.
  • All films and art pieces will be screened or exhibited online through Myseum.
  • All music rights must be cleared before submissions are received. Obtain consent of artists appearing in the piece.

Music

  • Maximum length for music is 3 minutes.
  • Foreign language pieces must be accompanied by an English translation or have English subtitles.
  • All music rights must be original. Covers must have music rights cleared before submissions are received.

Static Art

  • Static art is and not limited to a painting, a sculpture, photography etc. A piece that is not moving.
  • The piece should include a video (maximum 3 minutes) with a short biography and a story about your piece.
  • All music rights must be cleared before submissions are received. Obtain consent of artists appearing in the piece.
