In the first few months of the pandemic, the artist tried to make sense of emotions of their own and those around them. New terms, words and experiences were emerging to describe this unknown environment. We may not know where this new way of living may take us or how we may feel but having a map to support and acknowledge where we are can help us begin. The title of this map is in reference to the pop culture game, 6 degrees of separation. Made in May 2020, 6 ft of Separation COVID-19 themed emotional map is the first foldable map from the artist. When the two images are printed back-to-back on a page, the map can be folded into a pocket size map. The description side of the map displays handwritten information that includes visitor information, download app function, mental health resources, description of physical distancing and suggested activities that include making noise to celebrate and thank frontline workers at 7:30 p.m. When it is open, it reveals the emotional map. Have you seen yourself in these locations and intersections?
