THOUSANDS FORM HUMAN CHAINS ACROSS TORONTO

On January 30th, 2009 and March 16th, 2009 thousands of Tamil Canadians formed human chains along downtown Toronto. On January 30th, thousands of protestors formed human chains outside Union Station and spread across several kilometres.

On March 16th, an estimated 120,000 protestors similarly lined sidewalks near Union Station and the downtown core to form a nearly seven-kilometre human chain. Demonstrators chanted “We want justice. We want it now.” These human chains portrayed a massive display of strength and solidarity for Tamils in the homeland facing atrocities.
