MYSEUM INTERSECTIONS 2021

Dynamic Walking Tour

Unearthing Rexdale’s history through an interdisciplinary exploration of nature from the historic Thistletown Hospital, once described as a ‘palace of sunshine’ based on its immersive approach of “sun therapy” to facilitate healing in the natural environment, through to the Humber River, From Weeds We Grow consists of three unique and interconnected project components; walking tours of the area through both an Indigenous and historical lens, hands-on art workshops using the knowledge gained and materials gathered during the tours, and a community exhibit of culminating artwork. Together, we will explore how nature has played a key role in shaping the Rexdale community, and learn how plants and our connections to land can be used to heal and nourish one’s spirit, creating intersections of nature, art, and wellness.
