Myseum of Toronto (Myseum) is your Toronto museum. Through engaging programs and experiences, Myseum showcases the history, spaces, cultures, architecture, and the people that represent Toronto’s unique place in Canada and the world. Myseum aims to bring about a deeper, more personal understand-ing and appreciation of all that is Toronto.
Founded in 2014 by archivist and philanthropist, Diane Blake, Myseum connects Toronto’s recollections of the past with visions of the future through the stories, experiences, ideas, art, and artifacts we share. Myse-um has been producing events through a number of different avenues including its online presence, part-nerships, collaborations and tours without a permanent bricks and mortar space. Myseum is primed to evolve past its start-up phase and assume a prominent position on Toronto’s cultural landscape and amongst global city museums.
Accountable for oversight of Myseum’s operations, including exhibitions, programs and administration, the Executive Director will reinforce a dynamic team dedicated to audience and community engagement and informal learning. An energetic relationship builder, the Executive Director will continue to develop and strengthen stakeholder relationships and collaborations with both private and public institutions and will spearhead Myseum’s operational and capital fundraising initiatives. Working in partnership with the Board, the Executive Director will develop and promote innovative and meaningful programs that resonate and grow audience participation. The Director will enthusiastically embrace a visible, public role in communities across Toronto, the province and beyond. Over the next couple of years, the Executive Director will be responsible for the development and completion of the permanent hub space.
Myseum is seeking an influential, entrepreneurial, and innovative leader who has a passion and appreciation for history, creative spaces, arts, and culture. You have strategic and operational planning credentials, with strong experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives. You have a high degree of financial literacy and business aptitude with proven experience managing and overseeing budgets. You are adept at increasing audiences and building revenues through programming and operations. As an experienced leader and motivator, you inspire high performance and accountability among your team, and are comfortable working with a Board of Directors and diverse stakeholders. You can exploit new media to reach new audiences in attention-grabbing ways. As a champion of Myseum’s interests, you will be comfortable playing a central role in fundraising activities.
